Marion Dougherty

Marion Dougherty (1923–2011) was a legendary American casting director credited with revolutionizing the role from a clerical task to a creative artform. Known as a pioneer of "independent" casting, she famously championed actors based on their unique character and talent rather than conventional "types" or studio contracts.
