Jacques Lalande, born Jacques Gross on October 5, 1927 in Paris, was a French actor whose career spanned nearly forty years. Trained in theatre, he quickly became a familiar face in both film and television, where he portrayed a wide range of subtle and finely crafted supporting roles. He appeared in notable films of the 1960s such as La Belle vie, Is Paris Burning? and Ho!, though it was on television that he established himself most enduringly. He took part in numerous police and historical series, including Les Cinq Dernières Minutes, Maigret, Les Rois maudits, Les Compagnons de Baal, as well as the historical drama Mazarin in 1978. A discreet yet steady performer, he helped shape the French audiovisual landscape of his era. Jacques Lalande passed away in Paris in March 1997, and his ashes rest in the columbarium of Père‑Lachaise Cemetery.
