Joyel Nelson

Joyel Nelson is a Rome-based cinematographer and photographer known for a distinctive visual language shaped by color psychology, intimate framing, and emotionally driven storytelling. Currently completing an MA in Film Arts at RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts, he has worked across short films, music videos, documentaries, branded campaigns, and feature film productions. Having worked across India and Europe, Joyel’s experience spans narrative and commercial projects, including brand content for Saramonic and Samsung, as well as serving as Director of Photography on multiple short films and visual campaigns. Originally trained in zoology, his transition into cinema reflects a deep curiosity about observation, human behavior, and visual storytelling, approaching filmmaking through instinct, structure, precision, and emotional depth.
