Gabriel Fauré
Gabriel Urbain Fauré (Pamiers, May 12, 1845 – Paris, November 4, 1924) was one of the most important French composers of his generation, along with his younger contemporaries Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. Fauré is known for his piano music, chamber music, and songs. He also renewed French religious music—the Requiem is among his most famous works. Operas are also part of his oeuvre, but they have not remained in the repertoire.
