François Lambert

François Lambert is a visual effects supervisor based at Framestore Montréal. He started at Hybride, a Montreal-based VFX studio, in 1994, before joining Industrial Light & Magic in 2003. Over the years, he has contributed to a number of major franchises, including Star Wars, Harry Potter, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Star Trek, and Fast & Furious. Throughout his career, he has overseen visual effects on a variety of high-profile films and television series. Among his credits are Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), where, at ILM, he worked on set extensions and character work, including L3-37. He also supervised VFX for Fast X (2023), coordinating work across DNEG's global teams in Montréal, London, and Mumbai. On the war drama Devotion (2022), Lambert was one of DNEG's lead VFX supervisors; in interviews, he described how the team recreated historically accurate aircraft and ships, and used LED-volume virtual production to produce immersive aerial footage. Lambert has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards: for Watchmen (2019) for the episode "See How They Fly", and for Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (2018) in both 2019 (episode "Pilot") and 2020 (episode "Strongman"). He has also earned nominations from the Visual Effects Society (VES) and the Hollywood Professional Association (HPA), including a VES Award win for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) and nods for Tomorrowland (2015) and Captain America: Civil War (2016), among others. In 2017, Lambert was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), a recognition of his standing in the industry. In September 2023, he joined Framestore's Montréal office as a VFX supervisor. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys woodworking and winter sports, drawing on his creative spirit both on and off the screen.
