
John Clinton
John Clinton is a senior visual effects producer and co-producer at Sony Pictures Imageworks, based in Los Angeles County. Clinton began his career in the entertainment industry at Boss Film Studios, starting as a runner and progressing to visual effects coordinator and post-production producer in the commercial division. His early work included visual effects-driven advertising campaigns for major brands before he moved on to freelance producing roles at Rhythm & Hues and later at 525 Post Production, where he produced feature and commercial projects, including Flubber (1997). Alongside his studio work, he has also served as a feature production advisor for We The Project, an entertainment and technology platform connecting filmmakers with creative resources. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Television and Film from San Diego State University. Clinton joined Sony Pictures Imageworks in 1998, initially producing special marketing shots for Stuart Little (1999). He soon advanced into feature production, serving as a sequence producer on Hollow Man (2000) and as a digital producer on Men in Black II (2002). In the early 2000s, he contributed to several landmark visual effects films, including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003). As a visual effects producer at Imageworks, Clinton helped oversee effects on high-profile productions such as The Polar Express (2004), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), G-Force (2009), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), American Sniper (2014), Suicide Squad (2016), and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). In addition to live-action features, Clinton has worked as a producer and co-producer on animated projects, including Hotel Transylvania (2012), where he contributed during pre-production, The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2019), and the animated musical Vivo (2021). He has continued his collaboration with Imageworks with Marvel Studios films such as Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), and a Ghostbusters sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024), serving as a visual effects producer on each.
