George Stagakis

George Stagakis was born in Athens in 2002 and raised in Chalkida, Greece. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies from SAE Athens (2020-2023). He has written, directed, and edited the short film Clementine, which premiered at the 47th Drama International Short Film Festival in Greece. He also won best national editor award, at the 3rd Spicy Indie International Film Festival in Athens. Clementine is a personal film inspired by the life of his mother, who was never able to pursue her true passion, football. He is also the director of his first short film On the Hill, which has been selected by various short film festivals across Greece. On the Hill won Best movie award at the 3rd New Generation Film Festival and Best short film award at the 5th Cinergo International Film Festival in Athens. Additionally, he edited the documentary Koumoi, a deeply personal story about his father. He has directed and edited music videos for a number of Greek artists, including Katerine Duska, Leon of Athens, and Georgia Kefala. He also co-directed a commercial for the NGO Ecogenia, which was screened at the San Francisco Greek Film Festival. His work focuses on socially realistic storytelling, often inspired by his family background and the circumstances he grew up in. Through his films, George seeks to explore themes of unfulfilled dreams, identity, and the invisible boundaries that shape people's lives, always with a strong societal gaze and emotional sincerity.
