
Paolo Acri
Paolo Acri is an Emmy-nominated Visual Effects Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), based at Disney Studio Australia. He joined ILM in 2010 after working in London as a Digital Compositor at Moving Picture Company (MPC). He holds a Fine Art degree. Earlier in his career, Acri worked as a Digital Compositor and compositor on European productions including Incompreso (1998), Il resto di niente (2004), Luisa Sanfelice (2004), Ambulance (2005), Mater natura (2005), Three Days of Anarchy (2005), Our Land (2006), Die ProSieben Märchenstunde (2006–2007), and Dracula (2002). At MPC in London, he contributed to major international features including Fred Claus (2007), Quantum of Solace (2008), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Dorian Gray (2009), The Wolfman (2010), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), Robin Hood (2010), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010). After joining ILM in 2010, Acri contributed as a Digital Artist and compositor on Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), The Avengers (2012), Pacific Rim (2013), Noah (2014), Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015), 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Transformers: The Last Knight (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Aquaman (2018), 6 Underground (2019), A Quiet Place Part II (2020), Coming 2 America (2021), and Free Guy (2021). Over this period, he advanced from Digital Artist and Compositor to Compositing Supervisor and later Associate Visual Effects Supervisor. In 2022, he served as Visual Effects Supervisor on The Gray Man (2022). He contributed as Additional Visual Effects Supervisor on ABBA Voyage (2022). He supervised visual effects on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022–2024). In 2023, he worked as Associate Visual Effects Supervisor on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023), contributing to FaceSwap and AI-driven de-ageing processes, and on The Marvels (2023), and served as Visual Effects Supervisor on All the Light We Cannot See (2023). He continued as Visual Effects Supervisor on Road House (2024). Acri received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode in 2024 for "Episode 4" of All the Light We Cannot See (2023), shared with Charlie Lehmer, Swen Gillberg, Viet Luu, Tessa Roehl, Harry Bardak, Sylvain Theroux, John Britto, and Laurence Berkani. He was nominated for a Visual Effects Society Award in 2018 for Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Feature for Kong: Skull Island (2017), shared with Nelson Sepulveda, Aaron Brown, and Shawn Mason, and received a 2023 VES Award nomination for Outstanding Virtual Cinematography in a CG Project for ABBA Voyage (2022), shared with Pär M. Ekberg, John J. Galloway, and Jose Burgos.
