露易絲迷茫地走在街上，尋找一名叫大衛的男人，當她在一家餐館昏厥而被送往醫院後，醫生判定她患有精神上的疾病，醫生慢慢讓她回想過去。。。原來過去她是一名富豪格雷姆家夫人的看護，露易絲非常迷戀大衛，可大衛並非這麼想，他為格雷姆先生工作且前途一片光芒，不想這麼快步上婚姻的墳墓，就在格雷姆夫人意外身亡之後，格雷姆先生竟向露易絲提出求婚，露易絲認為只要她成為有錢人，大衛就會回到她身邊，但事實是如此嗎?
