本片由幾個超現實的小故事串聯而成。公園裡，一個神秘男子塞給一個中產階級家庭的女孩幾張圖片，女孩父母對這些帕特農神廟、凱旋門等古建築的圖片大驚失色。丈夫晚上被幻覺困擾求助醫生，恰巧女護士請假離去，在回家的路上，女護士偶遇受虐狂帽商、賭博的神父等人。一位教授搭護士的車來到警局授課，卻總被打斷，他最後講了一段赴宴的經歷，幾個朋友在馬桶上閒聊，而吃飯卻在廁所一樣的單間裡。一名罹患癌症的男人被告知女兒失踪，雖然女兒就在身邊，但一群人仍然四處尋找。一名槍手在高層建築裡隨意射殺路人，被判處死刑，但看起來卻像是當庭釋放。警察局長接到了死去的妹妹電話，他前往墓地查看，卻發現自己的位置已經被別人代替……
