「安迪」（菲力普塞摩霍夫曼 飾）和「漢克」（伊森霍克 飾）是對各有家室的兩兄弟。哥哥「安迪」有著令人稱羡的美麗妻子，以及高收入的會計事務所。 弟弟「漢克」疼愛著女兒，正為女兒伸請上私立學校的費用而發愁。在兄弟倆都缺錢的情況下，聰明的「安迪」想出一個皆大歡喜的解決方法──製造一樁沒有暴力、沒有受害者、不留線索的超完美搶案。但對象竟然是他們父母經營多年的珠寶店。 「安迪」的如意算盤是：由弟弟「漢克」開車當接應，再找一位共犯在清晨珠寶店員上班開店門一刻，衝入搶奪珠寶。如此一來，由於保險公司的理賠，父母當無損失，而兄弟倆即可拿搶來的珠寶去變賣金錢。
