「惡夜鬼王」佛萊迪擁有操控夢境的力量，他從【半夜鬼上床】開始作惡，專門趁大家熟睡時，潛入人們的夢中進行殘忍復仇、殺人滅口。困在地獄十年的他，認識了以【13號星期五】惡名遠揚的「嗜血狂魔」傑森，因此決定利用傑森來讓自己脫離煉獄、再展邪惡。 由於曾遭他危害的春木鎮已採取防範措施，讓所有可能成為佛萊迪追殺目標的居民，全都預先服藥以避免作夢，防止在惡夢中被奪取性命，所以大家不再避諱談到佛萊迪的名字，甚至漸漸淡忘關於他的一切，包括對他的恐懼。這個惡夜鬼王逐漸成為大人說故事嚇小孩時，口中無足輕重、聊備一格的人物。 「豐功偉業」被遺忘的佛萊迪非常不爽，最令人擔憂的這一天終於來到。為了回到春木鎮的艾姆街、重享往日呼風喚雨的威風，佛萊迪(羅勃英格蘭Robert Englund飾演)絞盡腦汁，他靈光一動想到了埋在附近墓園的傑森(肯克辛格Ken Kirzinger 飾演)，便決定入侵傑森的夢境，讓他驚醒、從死裡復活！傑森跟佛萊迪一樣殺人不眨眼，同樣具有恐怖偶像的地位。
