鬱鬱不得志的中學教師尼爾(賽門佩吉飾)，心懷作家夢卻總是被人看扁，有天偶然被外星人賦予心想事成的超能力，他不但藉此讓平常看他不順眼的校長變的百依百順，尼爾還賦予狗狗阿丹說話的能力，甚至連樓下的美女鄰居凱薩琳(凱特貝琴薩飾)也開始對他產生興趣，眼看人生從此就要一帆風順，怎知超能力是來自外星人的考驗，若是尼爾運用失當，惹的外星人不開心，地球便會因此毀滅！ 同時，凱薩琳的恐怖前男友抓住尼爾弱點，想利用超能力滿足個人私慾，外星人誤以為是尼爾濫用能力，認定人類是未開化的低等動物，正準備啟動毀滅地球的裝置時，只有狗狗阿丹知道如何挽救全人類的命運！
