这是一家专为出身贫困但具有音乐天分的青少年提供音乐教育、自组乐团而创立的音乐学校。由于不收学费、缺乏资金赞助正在面临倒闭的危机。片中主角正是个精力旺盛、调皮、具有音乐天份但因为环境恶劣家长放手不管正濒临走入歧途的孩子。这家学校发现他的才能，让他接受真正的音乐教育，并从中得到肯定和快乐，改变了他的人生。学生们因在街上募款而巧遇了著名小提琴家海菲兹，海菲兹了解情况后答应成为该校代言人兼赞助，并即席与该校青年乐团共同演奏一曲门德尔松的E小调小提琴协奏曲第三乐章。因此，这所学校也得到了继续办下去的支持。
