长久以来，梅里安（亚历桑德拉·马提尼斯 Alessandra Martines 饰）带着儿子赛吉（Arthur Cheysson 饰）过着平静但孤单的生活。在威尼斯，梅里安结识了画商皮耶（皮埃尔·阿迪提 Pierre Arditi 饰），后者靠着自己的善良的幽默赢得了梅里安的芳心。可是好景不长，在三人回到巴黎后没多久，皮耶和赛吉却在意外中丢掉了性命，同时失去了爱人和孩子的梅里安悲痛欲绝。 为了完成儿子生前的愿望，坚强的梅里安独自踏上了既定的旅程，一路上，她用相机代替了儿子的眼睛，记录下了一幕幕美妙的景致，不幸的是，厄运再次来临，寄托了梅里安所有感情的相机失窃了。几经辗转，相机来到了学者马克（Marc Hollogne 饰）的手上，被相机中的照片所打动，马克决定寻找相机的主人。
