在本格拉丛林里，传说藏着三个分别用金、银、玉制作的神圣骷髅，将它们合为一体便可激发神奇的力量，从而统治世界。正因为如此，本格拉丛林吸引了来自世界各地的野心家，然而这里却藏着一个令他们闻风丧胆的人物，他就是骷髅奇侠。骷髅奇侠的真实身份是沃克尔家族，四百年前沃克尔的祖先落难于曼加勒岛，并受到土著捷嘉达族的救助。在此之后，捷嘉达族被海盗消灭，他们的神圣骷髅也流落本格拉丛林，从此世代受骷髅奇侠的守护。某天，纽约商人仙德尔·卓克斯（Treat Williams 饰）派出手下闯入本格拉丛林，而新一代的骷髅奇侠（比利·赞恩 Billy Zane 饰）将于他们展开新一轮的正邪大战…… 本片根据1936年的同名漫画改编，并荣获1997年澳大利亚摄影师协会年度最佳摄影师和金三角架奖。
