多年前，海盗头子弗林特带领15名海盗将获得的许多金银财宝运到了一个未名小岛，但船只离开时，只有弗林特在，其他的人都被灭口。其实幸存并将藏宝地点画了地图的伯恩斯还在。他是一家酒馆的常客，和这里的侍应生吉姆·霍金斯关系很好，吉姆有两个忠实的伙伴利佐和刚佐。这天晚上，伯恩斯得到了瞎眼皮尤送给他的“黑记号”，那是海盗的处死令，他知道自己时间不多，于是把地图教给了吉姆并告诉他要小心一个只有一条腿的家伙。转瞬之间，海盗们攻来，酒馆一片火海，吉姆和两个伙伴带着地图逃了出来，他们决定去金银岛寻找弗林特留下的宝藏。
