Авантюрист и прощелыга Шервуд Нэш, разорившись на инвестиционном бизнесе, встречает модельера — дизайнера Линн Мэйсон. Её рисунки одежды дают ему идею для новой аферы. Он начинает нагло копировать последние модели одежды, которые поступают в престижные бутики и продавать их большими партиями в дешевых магазинах по бросовым ценам. Когда владельцы дорогих магазинов обнаруживают его жульничество, Шервуд предлагает им интересный компромисс: они должны послать его в Париж, чтобы он инкогнито сделал копии европейских дизайнов. Получив согласие, Шервуд и его партнеры следуют в Париж на встречу приключениям…
