2차대전 후 중국은 오랜 전쟁으로 가난과 혼란스러운 생활이 지속된다. 수많은 병사들이 타향에서 농민을 약탈하고 각처의 군벌세력이 형성되어 권력다툼을 벌이는 등 민생치안은 돌보지 않는다. 그틈을 탄 악랄한 도적단은 한 마을을 점령하고 생필품을 약탈한다. 이에 불의를 참지 못한 청년이 북경으로 가서 자기마을을 구할 수 있는 호걸들을 찾아나선다. 우여곡절 끝에 불의를 참지 못하는 젊은 혈기의 의리남 청년 7명을 만나서 마을을 향해 전진하게 되고, 퇴역군 정소추와 그의 부하 6인의 전사들이 펼치는 처참한 전투는 시작되는데...
