복수 때문에 네 사람을 죽인 여인과 그녀를 심문하던 중 사랑에 빠져버린 남자의 안타까운 사랑을 그린 영화. 이탈리아에서 영어 교사로 일하고 있던 영국인 필리파는 마약 과용으로 죽은 남편의 사건을 경찰이 제대로 조사해주지 않자, 직접 복수하기 위해 마약상의 사무실에 폭탄을 설치한다. 그러나 네 명의 무고한 사람들만 죽이고 경찰에 체포되고 만다. 모든 삶의 희망을 잃었던 그녀는 심문 과정 중 통역으로 배치된 경찰관 필리포를 만나게 되고, 시간이 지날수록 둘은 서로에게 점점 마음이 끌리고 있음을 발견한다.
