런던에서 금발 미녀를 대상으로 한 연쇄살인사건이 일어난다. 그 무렵 번팅 부부의 집에 낯선 사나이가 방을 얻는다. 번팅 부부의 딸 데이지는 경찰관인 남자친구 조에게 사나이를 조사해볼 것을 제안한다. 안개 낀 밤만 되면 외출을 하고 금발여인의 초상화에 신경질적인 반응을 보이는 등 여러 가지로 의심스러운 행동을 하는 사나이의 뒤를 캐던 조는 그를 연쇄살인의 범인으로 지목한다. 그러나 진짜 범인이 잡히면서 사나이는 누명을 벗고 데이지는 그에 대한 자신의 사랑을 확인한다.
