1999년 마지막 날 밤, 온 세상 곳곳이 Y2K로 떠들썩한 와중에 작은 시골 동네 편의점 직원인 오스틴은 새해 전야 파티도 포기한 채 야간 근무를 선다. 하지만 사실 오스틴에게는 다른 꿍꿍이가 있었으니, 바로 친구 스웨어스키와 편의점 ATM 기계를 털어 이 마을을 떠나는 것. 이들은 자정이 되기 전 ATM 속 돈다발을 챙겨 큰 도시로 떠나 꿈을 이룰 생각에 잔뜩 부풀지만 다른 친구들이 속도 모르고 자꾸 편의점에 찾아와 훼방을 놓는데…
