오랜 기간의 불화와 갈등으로 이혼위기에 놓인 빌과 케이트는 어느 날 뉴스를 통해 대학교 에서 일어난 끔찍한 총기난사사건을 접한다. 하지만 뒤이어 그들의 하나뿐인 아들 샘이 그 사건의 범인이라는 것이 밝혀지고 부부는 엄청난 여론의 비난과 친척들의 동정어린 시선을 함께 감내해야만 한다. 끝없는 자책, 분노, 슬픔의 반복을 통해 그들은 결국 스스로를 재발견하게 되고 부부 관계, 가족 관계, 그리고 그들 두 사람의 관계에 대해 다시 한 번 생각해 보게 된다. 2010년 토론토국제영화제 디스커버리 부문 국제비평가협회상(FIPRESCI), 관객상 수상작.
