복서로서 이름을 날리고 있는 알랑(장 클로드 반담)은 갱조직의 보스인 갈가니로부터 자신이 키우고 있는 줄로에게 져주는 대신 돈을 주겠다는 제의를 받고 수락한다. 하지만 알랑이 갈가니의 제안을 받아들인 것은 단지 돈 때문이 아니라 현재 갈가니의 정부인 카트리나 때문. 원래 자신의 옛 애인이었던 카트리나를 알랑은 아직도 잊지 못하고 있기 때문이었다. 카트리나와 다시 재회한 알랑은 시합 후 미국으로 함께 도망칠 것을 약속하지만, 알랑은 시합에서 줄로를 2회전만에 KO 시켜버린 뒤 매니저인 맥심과 도망을 치게 된다. 중도에서 갈가니 일행을 만나 피할 수 없는 격투를 벌이는데, 그 와중 매니저인 맥심이 죽는 사고가 발생한다. 가까스로 도망친 알랑은 장기간 몸을 숨기기 위해 프랑스 외인부대에 지원하게 된다.
