멕시코와의 전쟁이 끝나고 무법자들이 활개치는 텍사스. 어린 데이빗은 아버지가 결투에서 목숨을 잃은 모습을 목격 하고 22년이 지나 텍사스 레인저가 되어 멕시코인들에 무분별한 살해에 주범으로 지목되는 에이브러햄을 찾아 나서게 되는데 그 에이브러햄은 바로 데이빗에 아버지를 죽인 당사자이기도 하다. 에이브러햄이 법이자 종교인 한 도시에서 만난 두 남자. 서로가 서로에 대해 누군지 잘 알고는 있지만 마지막 복수와 전쟁을 위해 본심을 숨긴 채 끈끈한 긴장감이 감도는 시간을 묵도하며 두 사람은 최후에 결투를 준비하게 된다.
