アメリカの大学院生オマーは、自殺した作家ユルスの伝記を執筆すべく遺族の公認を求めるも、あえなく拒絶されてしまう。そこで直接説得するため南米ウルグアイにある亡き作家の邸宅へと向かう。そこでは作家の妻、作家の愛人とその娘、作家の兄とそのゲイの恋人が奇妙な共同生活を送っていた。
