1976年6月27日、テルアビブ発パリ行きのエール・フランス機139便が、アテネ空港出発30分後にハイジャックされた。乗客は245人。飛行機はリビアを経由して、ウガンダのエンテベに着陸。イスラエル人(ユダヤ人)以外の人質全員が解放され、テロリストたちは世界各国に拘留されているゲリラの釈放を要求する。要求のタイムリミットは7月4日午前11時。イスラエルのラビン首相はショムロン准将を司令官に精鋭部隊を組織。決死の救出作戦を展開する・・・。
