高校時代に一目惚れをして結婚した、ラファエルとオリヴィア。結婚10年目を迎え、小説家を目指していたラファエルは、いまや子どもたちに人気のベストセラーSF作家に。一方、小さなピアノ教室を開きながらピアニストの頂点を目指すオリヴィアは、仕事のことばかり考えているラファエルとのすれ違いの生活に孤独を感じていた。そんなある日、我慢の限界に達したオリヴィアがラファエルに想いをぶつけると大喧嘩に…。翌日、人気作家の特別授業として中学校を訪れたラファエルは、出会う人々の様子がおかしい ことに戸惑いを覚える。そこでの自分は、卓球に熱を上げるしがない中学校の教師で、オリヴィアは人気ピアニストとして活躍する、立場が逆転した＜もう一つの世界＞だった。そして、その世界のオリヴィアはラファエルを知らなかった…。自分にとってオリヴィアがすべてだと気付かされたラファエル。もう一度オリヴィアと愛し合うことで元の世界に戻 れると信じ、あの手この手を使って接触を試みる。二人は少しずつ心を通わせ合うものの、オリヴィアは公私共に長年連れ添ったパートナーと婚約することに。そこでラファエ ルは、ある重大なことに気づき、人生最大の決断を下す。それは、“恋”しか知らなかったラファエルがオリヴィアの幸せを一番に願う“愛”の決断だった…。
