1962年、ギリシャのアテネでツアーガイドをしているアメリカ人青年ライダルが、パルテノン神殿で優雅なアメリカ人紳士チェスターとその妻コレットと出会う。夫妻に魅了され、彼らのガイドを務めるライダルだったが、チェスターがホテルの部屋に現れた探偵を殺害し、ライダルがその後始末を手助けしたことから3人の運命は激変。警察にも追われる身となった3人は、後戻りできない破滅への道を突き進んでいく。
