Lilah Krytsick est une mère et femme au foyer qui elle croit toujours pourrait être un comédien stand-up. Steven Gold est un stand-up expérimenté qui semble sur le point de succès. Quand les deux se rencontrent, ils forment une amitié improbable, et Steven essaie d'aider l'Lilah non essayé de développer son acte de scène.
