Au début du XXe siècle, le docteur John Harvey Kellogg invente le beurre de cacahuètes, les corn flakes, la couverture chauffante et les régimes amaigrissants. La haute société se presse dans son sanatorium qui garantit un corps sain et une bonne santé. Will et Eleanor viennent d'arriver et espèrent pouvoir y trouver la solution à leurs problèmes de couple.
